WSPA makes hibernating bearable

Rescued bears in a sanctuary in Romania are just waking up from their winter sleep. For these bears hibernating was a new concept as before being rescued, they were used as tourist attractions outside restaurants and in run-down zoos. Caged in cramped surroundings, with poor nutrition, the bears endured miserable and unnatural lives. Now free to roam they eat acorns and hazel nuts that fall from the trees, berries and all sorts of vegetation and are easily able to build up good fat reserves allowing them to hibernate successfully in the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) built bear sanctuary.

Help WDCS Protect our Dolphins

Protect Our Dolphins is the Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society's campaign to protect the dolphins that live in Scotland’s Moray Firth. Oil and gas exploration and production, and chemical pollution, are just some of the threats facing the dolphins.

But in spite of evidence that the population may be in decline, little is being done to protect this unique, vulnerable and important group of animals. WDCS’s vision is for the whales and dolphins of the Moray Firth to survive and in due course thrive in a clean and safe environment. Click here for more details.
